Google Maps has introduced a series of measures to facilitate commuters in India, including a feature which will let them know of the state of roads, their width, and vehicles ahead.
According to TechCrunch, Google will use satellite imagery and Street View data to inform motorists of the type of road, distance between buildings, tree cover, poles and drains.
The company said the feature will be rolled out to Android devices in eight cities first, and soon to iOS devices.
Google Maps has also integrated flyover "callouts" so that one can see upcoming flyovers along their route.
It will be rolled out in 40 cities in India – first on Android devices and Android Auto and later on Apple’s CarPlay soon.
It has also joined hands with a government-backed initiative and a ride hailing app — Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), a government-backed open-source network for infrastructure, and Namma Yatri – to allow booking of tickets for local trains, auto rickshaws and metro.
The tickets will come in QR code form once users pay for it. The feature will be on for riders in Kochi and Chennai this week.
