A recent study by DeskTime reveals that India is at the forefront of global AI adoption, with 92 per cent of surveyed workplaces planning to incorporate ChatGPT into their workflows by the end of 2024.

The study, conducted between January 2023 and December 2024, surveyed 2,385 employees across 97 companies using DeskTime's time-tracking tool.

While AI tool usage has surged worldwide, ChatGPT remains the most widely used AI platform in workplaces, with global adoption reaching 75.9 per cent as of December 2024. The United States also saw an increase – albeit marginal – in workplace adoption, rising from 68 per cent in 2023 to 72 per cent in 2024.

On an individual level, ChatGPT adoption in the US grew notably, with 28.3 per cent of employees incorporating AI into their work, up from 17 per cent in 2023. While more employees are using AI, overall company-wide implementation has shown signs of slowing.

AI usage fluctuated throughout 2024, dipping to 63 per cent in January before rising to 81 per cent in October. The fluctuations suggest that seasonal work patterns, evolving company policies, and changing attitudes toward automation may be influencing AI adoption rates globally.
