Instagram allows comments on Stories

Instagram now allows followers to comment on each other's Stories, just as they are allowed to do during livestreaming.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of the feature in the company's Channel.

"Stories have entered chats… literally. You can now leave a comment on Stories. It's pretty fun," he wrote.

The users will be allowed to disable the option to have comments on their Stories, if they prefer.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri had earlier revealed Stories format to be one of the app's most popular features and more widely used than posting content to the main feed.

The public comments feature is part of Instagram's ongoing efforts to increase engagement on the platform. Last month, the company added the feature to add music to profiles.

Another feature, Reveal, launched recently, allows users to hide Stories so that followers can only see them after sending a DM.
