Instagram to allow users have profile song

Instagram has launched a new feature that will allow users to add a song on their profile, according to a post on X.

The music will show up in the user's bio area, according to screenshots shared by Instagram.

The song, however, won't autoplay, like it did on Myspace, the original 2000's website to have boasted the feature. People viewing a profile with a song can play and pause the track.

Users can add a song by going to the "Edit Profile" page, where they can search for and select a track from Instagram's library of licensed music, and upload a 30-second-long cut of the song.

Instagram is launching the feature in collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter of "Espresso" chartbuster.

Carpenter's official Instagram profile will have from Thursday onward a teaser of her song "Taste," ahead of her album release on Friday.

Instagram is also adding a few hidden features themed around Carpenter’s upcoming album, 'Short n' Sweet'.
