Social media gaming your children's brain with AI: Elon Musk

Khushboo Pareek

Elon Musk, the owner of X, has urged parents to keep their children away from social media for its constant artificial high.

Musk in the recent Viva Technology Conference said, "I would urge parents to limit the amount of social media that children can see because they're being programmed by a dopamine-maximizing AI."

Maurice Levy, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Publicis Groupe, advertising and communications group held the video call with Musk.

He replied to Musk, "So, you understand that Elon is ready to sacrifice X to X AI."

Viva Technology, or VivaTech, is an annual technology conference, dedicated to innovation and start-ups, held in Paris, France. VivaTech was founded in 2016 by Publicis Groupe and Groupe Les Echos.

X.AI Corp., doing business as xAI, is an American startup company working in the area of artificial intelligence. Founded by Elon Musk in March 2023, its stated goal is "to understand the true nature of the universe."

Musk has previously voiced concerns about social media platforms, especially Meta's Facebook and Instagram, alleging that they've enabled child exploitation.

He's asserted that his platform X is actively combating such content, although there have been controversies, like the reinstatement of an account that previously shared exploitative material.
